ABOUT THE TEAM

We volunteer first. Then we write.

We are four IGCSE students from Island School ESF in Hong Kong. Every guide on this site is built from a session we completed ourselves, so the practical details come from experience — not guesswork.

As Communications Lead, I will coordinate internal team alignment and drive external advocacy through clear, engaging channels to bridge the gap between community willingness and active participation in local food redistribution.

As Creative Lead, I will design compelling visual content and accessible multimedia media strategies that destigmatize volunteerism and inspire our school community to actively participate in local food rescue initiatives.

“Seeings our posters gain traction and being displayed in the school hallways, inspiring students to take action and volunteer.”

OUR STORY

It started with a question we couldn't answer.

We wanted to volunteer, but every charity's website stopped at "register here". None of them told us where to stand, what to wear, or what the first ten minutes would feel like. We realised the hardest part of volunteering wasn't the work — it was the unknown.

We started with Feeding Hong Kong, interviewing their coordinators and walking a Bread Run ourselves. During that work we learned about ghost bookings: full sessions with empty places because someone registered and never arrived.

That changed our plan. Instead of summarising websites, we decided to complete every activity ourselves and document it in sequence, so each guide answers the questions we couldn't find answered anywhere.

OUR RESEARCH AND PROCESS

Verified before it's published.

01

Organizer interviews

We talk to charity coordinators and staff before writing, so registration steps, timings, and requirements come straight from the people who run the sessions.

02

First-hand participation

Every guide is based on a session we attended ourselves, photographed in sequence from arrival to the final handover — no second-hand summaries.

03

Verified accuracy

Details are rechecked against official calendars and confirmation emails before publishing, with a note wherever details can change by shift.
