A clearer first day

Know what to expect before you volunteer.

We are four Island School students who completed these activities ourselves, then turned each day into a clear, step-by-step guide.

Why this exists

You do not need more motivation. You need a clearer first day.

Many people want to volunteer, but stop before they register because they do not know what the session will be like. Where do you go? What will you actually do? How long will it take? Our guides answer those questions before you commit.

Please keep a place open

A full session can still have empty places.

Ghost bookings happen when someone reserves a volunteer slot but cannot attend and does not cancel. That can stop another person from registering, even though the charity still needs help.

If your plans change, cancel as early as you can.

Please sign up only when you intend to attend.

About the team

We did the volunteering before we wrote the guides.

We are four IGCSE students from Island School ESF in Hong Kong. Every activity on this site was personally completed by our team, so the guides describe the practical details we wish we had known beforehand.
